  • Description

On his way home from an official visit to the Sudan, President Joseph Mobutu of the Congo-Kinshasa met President Jomo Kenyatta yesterday (Thursday, February 4, 1971) for talks at Mombasa where the Kenya leader is spending a working holiday. President Mobutu flew via the Kenya capital, Nairobi, where Kenya's Vice-President, Mr Daniel Moi, and the Foreign Minister, Dr. Njoroge Mungai, joined him for the onward flight to the coast. It is believed that the two Presidents discussed the question of recognition of the new regime in neighbouring Uganda. The other East African country, Tanzania, is opposed to recognition of Major-General Idi Amin's Government which seized power from President Obote. Britain recognised the regime today (Friday).
