    FIVE HUNDRED STUDENTS, MEMBERS OF MINORITY RACES IN NORTH VIETNAM, ARE ATTENDING A SOCIALIST TRAINING SCHOOL IN HOA BINH PROVINCE.

    THERE ARE 310,000 PEOPLE IN THE HOA BINH PROVINCE, WHICH IS SITUATED WEST OF HANOI; AND SOME 270,000 OF THEM BELONG TO MINORITIES SUCH AS THE MUNH, THAI, MANN, TOURA AND MIIAO RACES.

    STUDENTS, BETWEEN THE AGES OF 17 AND 25, ARE SELECTED FOR POLITICAL AND CULTURAL EDUCATION. LATER THEY ARE ASSIGNED TO LEADING POSITIONS WITHIN THE PROVINCE.

    THE SCHOOL, FORMERLY OCCUPYING ONE UNIT, HAS NOW BEEN SCATTERED THROUGHOUT THE PROVINCE BECAUSE OF THE DAMAGED FROM AIR ATTACK. STUDENTS BUILD THEIR OWN CLASSROOM AND DIG DEFENSIVE SLIT TRENCHES.

    FOOD IS ALSO PROVIDED BY THE STUDENTS THEMSELVES. THEY CULTIVATE THE LAND AND GROW MAINLY TAPIOCA. LATER THIS IS POWDERED TO FORM A STAPLE IN THE DAILY DIET.
