    THE BRIGHT YOUNG BOYS AND GIRLS OF THE SINGAPORE'S UNIVERSITY OF MALAYA, WHO USUALLY GET INTO TROUBLE WITH AUTHORITIES FOR THEIR RAGGING ACTIVITIES, HAVE THIS YEAR TURNED THEIR TALENTS TO RAISING MONEY FOR UNDER PRIVILEGED CHILDREN.

    WHILE DOING A CHARITABLE WORK, THE STUDENTS HAVE ORGANIZED ENOUGH ACTIVITIES TO GIVE ENJOYMENT BOTH TO THEMSELVES AND OTHERS.

    THE CHARITY WORK BEGAN (JULY 25) WITH A FLAG DAY WHEN OVER 500 UNIVERSITY STUDENTS COMBED THE ENTIRE CITY FOR COINS.

    THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE PROGRAMME WAS A PROGRESSION THROUGH THE MAIN STREETS. THE PROCESSION INCLUDED TO DECORATED FLOATS. 10 CARS FILLED WITH GIRLS, A CAVALCADE OF 20 MOTOR CYCLES AND A LION DANCE.

    THE ONE THAT APPEALED BOTH TO THE VICTIM AND THE AUDIENCE WAS A MODIFIED VERSION OF GUILLOTINE.

    ANOTHER WAS THE MAIN FLOAT WHICH CARRIED A CHINESE UNDER) GRADUATE AS THE QUEEN OF THE PROCESSION. WITH HER WERE OTHER GIRLS FROM THE INDIAN AND MALAY AND EURASIAN COMMUNITIES OF SINGAPORE.

    THE STUDENTS CARRIED THEIR FUND RAISING CAMPAIGN FOR FULL FIVE DAYS WITH A VARIETY CONCERN, FOOD AND FUN FAIR (FOOD COOKED BY GIRLS AS THEY POT IT TO DISPROVE THE POPULAR THEORY THAT UNIVERSITY GIRLS CANNOT COOK FOR THEIR LIVES) AND SALE OF A COMIC WEEKLY, THEY PRODUCED.

    WHEN THE CAMPAIGN WAS OVER, SIX ASSOCIATIONS FOR UNDER) PRIVILEGED CHILDREN WERE RICHER AND THE BOYS AND GIRLS HAPPIER. IT WAS FUN RAISING FUNDS.
