Background: Britain's Royal Family gave a garden party at Holyrod Palace in Edinburgh on Tuesday (21 July) in honour of Commonwealth Games athletes and officials.
Queen Elizabeth, Prince Philip, Princess Anne and Prince Charles mingled with hundreds of guests from all over the British Commonwealth.
Earlier in the day the Royal Family watched some swimming events. They took it in turns to present the medals for some of the afternoon's finals. The Queen presented a gold medal to Canadian student William Mahony for his victory in the 100 metres breastroke.
Later Welshman Martyn Woodroffe, third in the individual medley, received his bronze medal -- appropriately enough -- from the Prince of Wales.
