    TRANSCRIPTS:

Interviewer: Today we are here with two of the women of the three women who were fired from the Vatican. These women are laywomen who worked here for about twelve years. One of them 12 years, the other 9 years, who think they were fired without just cause about three years ago. They have since taken their case to the Vatican Court. The first session was postponed until one year later and the second session was held today, would you please like to tell us what happened today?

Christine Koschel:- Well, there was only a discussion between the two lawyers and they then postponed the whole thing until the verdict and just maybe, you can go in to some substance about what was happening today.

Ingrid Benning:- This was a lengthy discussion between the two parts, our lawyer and the legal councillor of the government, who represents the other party who was just sticking after one year, still to the old theories.

    INTERVIEWER:

Is it true that you held no contract when you were fired and for that reason you had no recourse - no legal recourse?

Christine Koschel: Well that corresponds to the truth, but we were fighting for this contract for many, many years with all our colleagues and we couldn't get the contract.

    INTERVIEWER:

Do you know have a contract or do your colleagues have a contract?

Christine Koschel:- Yes they all have a contract and we had the same job they are doing now.

Interviewer:- Do you think their having a contract, is a result of your being fired and having taken this case to court.

Ingrid Benning:- Yes. That's a point our lawyer this morning underlined very strongly before the judges. The fact that we tried to have a cause to debate the thing before a trial court aroused a lot of, let's say, a little revolution and the radio took its contracts to our colleagues.

Interviewer:- Now you feel that your efforts have done this for your colleagues and you're only trying to get retribution. This is what you want, financial retribution, is that right?

Christine Koschel:- Yes, well I hope this will help to resolve other similar cases in the future, because there were other colleagues thrown out before us. There were two Polish ladies, which had the same job as we had and it happened, the same thing which happened to us later, so they might try also a legal case and I hope they will have success.

    INTERVIEWER:

    Alright, thank you very much.
