Mr. Mohammed Hassan Al Ali, 30 years old, who worked at Textile Company in the city of Allepo (Syria), spoke of the repressive measures that were practiced by the regime against the Syrian people. Mr. Al Ali said that he was detained by the intelligence authorities in Alleppo for fifteen days during which he was subjected to various kinds of torture to force him in joining the Syrian intelligence. He added that he had worked in the Syrian regime's intelligence because of his financial problems and because of the torture that he was subjected to. The Syrian authorities had sent Mr. Al Ali to Baghdad in explorative mission to allocate a number of media establishments.
Mr. Ali said that the Syrian regime provided him with a Lebanese passport with the name of Saleem Bin Ahmed Al Haj. The Syrian agent came to Baghdad on the 7th of April and stayed a few days. Fifteen days later he was asked again to return to Baghdad after being provided with arms, a car which was stolen from Lebanon and false statements in addition to a great amount of explosive materials. Mr. Ali also said that the intelligence authorities had prepared a group of agents to carry out bomb and explosive attacks in Baghdad.
He said that the Syrian President himself supervised the operation.
Mr. Al Ali revealed that the Syrian intelligence decided to carry on a number of destructive operations in several major squares; bridges and media establishments such as Iraqi News Agency, Al-Thawra Newspaper, and several other important establishments.
Mr. Al Ali admitted that the purpose behind all these schemes was to create, chaos and a state of tension between the parties forming national progressive front by distributing leaflets claiming the explosion on a certain political party. Al Ali also revealed that these operations were aimed to kill as many people as possible.
Mr. Al Ali declared that a person from the Syrian Embassy in Iraq was appointed as supervisor on the destructive operations. Then Mr. Al Ali expressed regret for participating in this destructive mission and praised the good treatment of Iraqi authorities. He also called on all the agents of intelligence and all other Syrian Administrations to reject the Syrian conspirator ??? schemes which serve the Zionism and imperialism.
