  • Description

Kansas City, Missouri, suffered its second straight night of racial disturbances on Wednesday as life returned to normal in most of the nation's other cities.

Roving bands of Negroes are believed to have set fire to a business block in a Negro section of Kansas City last night virtually wiping out the area. Meanwhile, Negro snipers shooting from the top of buildings trade shots with police and National Guard troops until dawn. Five Negroes were killed in the gunfire.

The two-day death count in Kansas City is now six. The five dead include a father and his teen-age son. At least nine others were hurt and nearly 400 persons were hurt.
