SYNOPSIS: The Kenya Airforce's four Strikemaster light attack aircraft have been shown to the public for the first time. The occasion was the end of the Sixth Kenyan Air Safari. The four aircraft arrived in Kenya earlier this year. They were flown home by Kenyan pilots who were trained in Britain.
The crowd at Wilson Airport were treated to an acrobatic display before the aircraft landed. The Strikemasters are light attack aircraft particularly suitable for anti-insurgency operations. It has ??? up speed of 472 miles and hour (760 km/h), and a range of 725 miles (1,166 kms).
The Strikemasters were flown by an all Kenyan crew under the command of Major Larry Mwanzia. The first of the aircraft was flown in October 1967 and went into full production soon after.
The aircraft stayed at Wilson airport for two hours giving Kenyans an opportunity to see the latest addition to their airforce.
