    President Marcos suspended habeas corpus after the bombing of an opposition liberal party rally last weekend in which eight people were killed and more than 90 injured.

    SYNOPSIS: Students have been demonstrating in Manila, capital of Philippines since the weekend when President Marcos reacted to political bombings by suspending habeas corpus. Grenades were thrown at a Liberal party rally on Saturday killing eight people and injuring ninety more. President Marcos has suspended legal rights for suspected subversives, claiming the country was threatened with communist insurrection.

    The students have announced they would continue their demonstrations until the President revoked permission for the indefinite detention of suspects. Meanwhile, President Marcos has accused the secretary-general of the Liberal Party of having given arms to the communist rebels.
