  • Description

Nowadays -- one may keep sheep or even cows -- with no field at all. the Plantana of Munich grows grass on trays and rather quickly too.

SYNOPSIS: The production of green fodder depends greatly on the seasons of the year, weather and the soil -- certain factors which mankind has little or no influence upon.

But the Plantana of Munich has replaced meadows and fields with grass growing trays. The trays are prepared with feedable beds consisting of cellublose, straw or hay. The grain seed is evenly dispersed -- approximately four and a half pound (two kilograms) per tray. Then the trays are covered with lids and placed into a unit camp eted with an automatic regulator which provides for the watering of the seed with nutrient water, and for sufficient lighting. The growth of wheat is one foot (30 cm.) in eight days.

The "Plantana green carpet" had not only a root complex rich in proteins and carbohydrates, but also another advantage which other green fodders do not provide. this grass contains a considerable amount of extra-nutritional value. An installation of one Plantana's unit costs GBP 700 sterling with additional GBP 1.25 for each tray.

The new method of grass growing makes daily harvesting feasible in summer, in winter, year after year anywhere -- in the city or int he country. It conquers the dependency on soil wherever swamp land, chalk or sand will not bear green fodder. No wonder Abu Dhabi was the first among the Plantana's customers together with other countries of the Gulf.
