    Background: This film shows four of the recovery ships for the APOLLO 13 operation scheduled for Friday, April 17, 1970.

    The ships are the USS IWO JIMA (LPH-2), USS BENJAMIN STODDERT (DDG-22), USS KAWISHIWI (AO-146), and the USS ESCAPE (ARS-6).

    Recovery is planned to take place approximately 1200 miles northeast of New Zealand, in the Pacific Ocean.
