    At the opening of the Tripoli meeting of the Committee for the Liberation of the African Continent, Libyan leader Muammer Gaddafi told delegates his country was ready to send troops to help African states who were fighting against white minority governments. The Liberation Committee meeting in the Libyan capital is a forerunner to the full ministerial council meeting of the Organisation of African Unity, due to get underway on Monday (20 February).

    SYNOPSIS: Colonel Gaddafi was given a warm welcome by the delegates as he entered the hall to make his speech. The C.A.U. meeting is expected to give considerable time to the question of Rhodesia and Namibia, and the Libyan leader wasted no time in getting on to the subject of liberation wars in Southern Africa.

    He told the delegates his country was also willing to fight alongside nationalist movements if the southern part of Africa, if this could help them achieve freedom and independence. Colonel Gaddafi attacked certain African states for boasting that they would send arms to tension areas in Africa. Later, Patriotic Front co-leader Robert Mugabe expressed his appreciation to his Libyan host....
