    THE CONGOLESE (BRAZZAVILLE) FOREIGN MINISTER, M. DAVID CHARLES GANAO, TRAVELLED BY FERRY ACROSS THE CONGO RIVER YESTERDAY (SATURDAY) FOR TALKS WITH THE NEW GOVERNMENT OF THE CONGO (LEOPOLDVILLE). THE TALKS ARE BELIEVED TO BE AIMED AT RESTORING NORMAL RELATIONS BETWEEN THE NEIGHBOURING CONGO REPUBLICS - WHICH HAVE BEEN STRAINED FOR SOME TIME.

    M. GANAO SPENT ABOUT SIX HOURS ON THE LEOPOLDVILLE SIDE OF THE RIVER, DURING WHICH HE AND HIS PARTY OF FIVE MEN HAD TALKS WITH M. KIMBA AND MEMBERS OF THE LEOPOLDVILLE CABINET. M. GANAO HAD BEEN ESPECIALLY INVITED TO LEOPOLDVILLE FOR THE TALKS.

    (RELATIONS BETWEEN THE TWO CONGOS HAS BEEN STRAINED FOR THE PAST YEAR BECAUSE OF POLITICAL DIFFERENCES AND BORDER INCIDENTS. THE CONGO (LEOPOLDVILLE) HAD ACCUSED THE OTHER OF ENCOURAGING INSURGENTS ACROSS THE BORDER, THE CONGO (BRAZZAVILLE) SAYS ITS COUNTERPART IS A BASE FOR PLOTTERS AGAINST THE BRAZZAVILLE GOVERNMENT).
