    THE VIETNAM WAR HAS BEEN RESPONSIBLE FOR STUDENT DEMONSTRATIONS IN EUROPE AGAINST AMERICAN FOREIGN POLICY. THE DEMONSTRATIONS ON A NUMBER OF OCCASIONS HAVE LED TO WIDESPREAD VIOLENCE. IN PARIS, DANISH PAINTER ERIC MUNSTER CONFINES HIS VIOLENCE TO THE CANVAS IN AN ATTEMPT TO ILLUSTRATE THE HORRORS OF WAR.

    MR. MUNSTER DOES HIS WORK BY THE RIVER SEINE NEAR THE EIFEL TOWER. HE FIRST GETS A CANVAS, PLACES IT ON THE RIVER BANK, AND ADDS TWO PIECES OF WOOD. THE PIECES OF WOOD ARE MEANT TO REPRESENT TWO MEN TORTURED BY VIOLENCE AND FIRE. THE PAINTER THEN MIXES A RED POWDER AND PARAFFIN IN A PLASTIC BAG, PLACES THE BAG ON THE CANVAS, THEN SETS FIRE TO THE LOT.

    THE RESULTING RED SUBSTANCE WHICH SPREADS ON THE CANVAS REPRESENTS THE BLOOD SPENT IN WAR.
