    The latest event in the Motocross World Championship -- the Yugoslavian Grand Prix -- was won by Belgian Harry Everts on Sunday (8 June).

    Riding an Austrian machine, the Puch, Everts beat competitors from 18 countries. The event was for 225-cc engines at Trzic, a village near the border pass of Ljubljana in Yugoslavia. Everts's win has brought him a total score of 90 points in this year's competition.

    Second was the Soviet rider Eugeny Rybalchenko, and third was Zdenek Velky of Czechoslovakia.

    The race was in two heats with the same competitors in both. The first heat was won by Velky and the second by Everts. Everts was ??? the overall winner.

    A surprise place-getter was American motorcyclist Jim Pomeroy, who was ultimately placed fourth.

    The Motocross competition is recognised in both West and East Europe.
