Dr. Konrad Adenauer, West German Chancellor, flew from Cologne-Bonn Airport, Western Germany, Mar 12, to America for vital policy-making talks on Summit-conference planning with President Eisenhower. Accompanying on his 3 day-visit were his daughter Lotte Multhaupt and Foreign Minister Heinrich von Brentano.
The West German Chancellor did not carry any new proposals for a solution of the Berlin question but in talks with advisers he expressed the issue in clear-cut terms: "No compromises, no weakening."
Instead Dr. Adenauer will insist on what he regards as the only acceptable principle for the Western approach to the Summit - a refusal to discuss the Berlin question and a demand to Mr. Khrushchev to prove Russia's alleged desire for a reduction in a world tension by allowing some progress towards world-wide disarmament and a Soviet acceptance of the present situation in Berlin.
