    A new channel for airline passengers at London Airport has been opened to cater for European Common Market citizens. It went into use on January 1, the day British Joined the EEC. Previously, Common Market citizens were treated as aliens for Immigration Department purposes, and extensive forms had to be completed before they were allowed into Britain. Now, the procedure has been simplified to cater for their new status--which allows them to live and work in U.K. virtually without restriction.

    SYNOPSIS: A new immigration department channel especially for European Common Market citizens. Britain became a member of the EEC on January I, and with it, Common Market citizens have a new status.

    Previously passport holders of Common Market countries were regarded as aliens, for British Immigration Department purposes, and had to complete extensive formalities before being allowed in. Now, they're allowed to live and work in Britain virtually without restriction. Entry and exit formalities have been greatly simplified.
