  • Description

South Korean Premier Kim Jong Pil visited Japanese Prime Minister Kakuel Tanaka at his official residence today (Thursday) to discuss bilateral issues pending between the two nations.

Premier Kim, accompanied by Foreign Minister Kim Yong Sik, stopped over in Japan on 9th on route home from the funeral service for former U.S. President Harry S. Truman who died late last month.

While his visit Japan, Premier Kim exchanged views with Japanese leaders on the Korea question, the Asian situation and the Asia and Pacific Council (ASPAC) as well as economic cooperation between Japan and South Korea.

However, the first meeting with Prime Minister Tanaka, he expressed his courtesy with soft talks for good relation ships between two countries rather than political ones, according to the officials.

On the other hand, Premier Tanaka welcomed him to a luncheon in the Korean Premier's honour after the talks which revoked his memory of his visit South Korea in 1960.

The visit Japan of South Korean premier was scheduled in July last year but has been delayed until today.
