    In Geneva, the United Nations conference called to discuss the problems of more than 250,000 Indo-chinese refugees ended on Wednesday (13 December) with a positive summation by the High Commissioner, Mr. Poul Hartling. But the Malaysian Home Minister, Mr. Tan Sri Ghazali, said that there had not been a solution to the problem of countries such as his, which are the landing points for people fleeing their own countries. The conference announced pledges of 80,000 places for refugees in new countries and 12 million dollars to help resettle them.

    SYNOPSIS: A group of Vietnamese refugees kept vigil in the Place des Nations during the conference. They were demonstrating their support for others who wish to leave Vietnam,and requested that they be given asylum and an opportunity to be re-united with their families abroad. Inside,Mr. Poul Hartling addressed newsman about the conference.

    The Malaysian Home Affairs Minister, Mr. Tan Sri Shafie, then spoke.
