    STRICT SECURITY MEASURES WERE IN FORCE IN ACCRA YESTERDAY (FRIDAY) WHEN PRESIDENT NKRUMAH DROVE TO PARLIAMENT HOUSE TO ADDRESS THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY ON THE PAN-AFRICAN UNITY CHARTER DRAWN UP AT ADDIS ABABA.

    THE PRESIDENT INVITED THE ASSEMBLY TO RATIFY THE CHARTER WHICH HAS THE BACKING OF 30 AFRICAN LEADERS.THE HOUSE APPROVED THE MOTION AND DR NKRUMAH SIGNED THE INSTRUMENT OF THE CHARTER.

    IN HIS ADDRESS TO THE ASSEMBLY, THE GHANAIAN LEADER LAUNCHED AN ATTACK ON THE WHITE ADMINISTRATIONS OF SOUTHERN AFRICA.HE SAID GHANA WOULD OPPOSE SOUTHERN RHODESIA'S ENTRY INTO THE BRITISH COMMONWEALTH AND THE UNITED NATIONS IF THE COUNTRY WERE TO BE GRANTED INDEPENDENCE UNDER MR WINSTON FIELD'S MINORITY WHITE-SETTLER GOVERNMENT.

    DR NKRUMAH ALSO CALLED ON ALL STATES TO DISCONTINUE THE ARMS TRAFFIC TO SOUTH AFRICA AND TO WITHDRAW NATO SUPPORT FROM PORTUGAL.
