TRANSCRIPT: SEQ. 2: HOLMES: "I will fight anyone in the world. I will be a fighting heavyweight champion, you can't be a champion if you don't give everybody the opportunity. It this man here thinks he deserves a chance, as soon as the promoters or whatever say, this man and I could get it on. I am the baddest heavyweight in the world today and I could hold the title for five years before losing. Five years."

REPORTER: "What do you think you could do to Muhammad Ali?"

HOLMES: "Muhammad Ali, there is no question about Muhammad Ali anymore. There is no more Muhammad Ali, there is only one...Larry Holmes. Muhammad Ali has seen the light side and now he is on the dark side. I'm on the light side now."

REPORTER: "What do you think you could do with him?"

HOLMES: "Beat Muhammad Ali, of course, but I feel sad about beating Muhammad Ali because Muhammad is a legend in his own time. Now his time has passed it is my time now."

Background: Boxing...and the World Boxing Council (WBC) heavyweight champion, Larry Holmes of the United States, arrived in London on a world tour on Friday (30 June) and proclaimed himself the greatest fighter in the world. Holmes, who won the WBC title by outpointing Ken Norton in Las Vegas three weeks ago, said all other heavyweights could be forgotten as he would remain champion for a long time.

SYNOPSIS: At the sportsman Club in central London the 28-year-old Holmes showed no signs of nerves when he met the British press, despite being a relative known until his win over Norton.

Larry Holmes turned professional in 1973 and learned his trade slowly, working as a sparring partner for both Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier. He says if there are any Ali moves in his style they have just rubbed off because he has made no effort to copy Ali. Holmes says he has three or four challenges being arranged but there was nothing definite yet.
