Background: Dr. Eric Williams, the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, visited the Volta River Dam in Ghana during the course of his current tour of African states.
The Prime Minister is visiting Ghana at the invitation of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, the Ghanaian President.
Dr. Williams arrived at the Volta Dam by helicopter and was welcomed by officials of the Volta River Authority. The seventy-five million pound Volta power project is one of the biggest development plans under way in Africa.
Dr. Williams' visit to Africa, described as a "getting to know you" tour, finishes on March 25. By that time he will have visited eight countries including Nigeria, Ghana, Ethiopia and the United Arab Republic. Dr. William has already visited Europe, the America, Australia and the Far East.
