    A 14 NATIONAL CONFERENCE OF GHANA'S CREDITORS WILL BE HELD IN LONDON TOMORROW (TUESDAY) AND WEDNESDAY TO DISCUSS RE-SCHEDULING THE COUNTRY'S DEBTS. GHANA'S NATIONAL LIBERATION COUNCIL, WHICH REPLACED THE GOVERNMENT OF DR. KWAME NKRUMAH LAST FEBRUARY, HAS INHERITED DEBTS OF MORE THAN GBP200 MILLION OF WHICH ABOUT GBP50 MILLION IS OWED TO BRITAIN. THE LONDON CONFERENCE WAS ANNOUNCED IN GHANA LAST WEEK BY CO. A.A. AFRICA, N.L.C. MEMBER RESPONSIBLE FOR TRADE, FINANCE AND ECONOMIC AFFAIRS.

    THE KUMASI CULTURAL CENTRE WAS FILLED TO CAPACITY WHEN MR. AFRICA ARRIVED. LEBANESE AND INDIAN TRADERS WERE AMONG THE MANY BUSINESSMEN PRESENT. COL. AFRICA WARNED TRADERS AGAINST HOARDING GOODS AND SAID THE NATIONAL LIBERATION COUNCIL WOULD SOON ISSUE A DECREE TO CONFISCATE HOARDED GOODS. HE SAID THE GOVERNMENT'S POLICY WAS CONCERNED ABOUT THE WELFARE OF ALL BUSINESS ESTABLISHMENTS IN GHANA AND RECOGNISED THE IMPORTANT ROLE THAT THE PRIVATE SECTOR HAD TO PLAY IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE COUNTRY.

    REPRESENTATIVES OF WEST GERMANY, HOLLAND, FRANCE, JAPAN, NORWAY, BELGIUM, ITALY, CANADA, THE UNITED STATES, ISRAEL, AUSTRALIA, SWITZERLAND, SPAIN, THE WORLD BANK, AND THE INTERNATIONAL MONETARY FUND WILL ATTEND TOMORROW'S LONDON CONFERENCE. GHANA IS EXPECTED TO ASK THE CONFERENCE FOR A TWO-YEAR MORATORIUM ON DEBTS TO GIVE THE COUNTRY A CHANCE TO GET THE ECONOMY MOVING.
