Demands for South African troops to leave Namibia have been renewed. They were made in the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday (18 October) by the head of the South West Africa people's Organisation, Sam Nujoma. SWAPO wants the troops withdrawn before UN-supervised elections leading to independence are held in Namibia. Mr. Nujoma said recent political and military actions by South Africa proved it was still bent on entrenching its colonial domination.
