    The Fourth International Congress on Biophysics, ole of the world's fastest growing sciences, opened in Moscow on Monday. Over 2,500 scientists from more than 40 countries are taking part in the eight-day session.

    Biophysics is the study of the physical processes of living things -- haw plants use sunlight, for example, or haw the human body moves its muscles. During the massive programme in Moscow, scientists will be splitting up into twenty-five sections, each concerned with different aspects of the science. A total of 1,800 papers will be read.

    At monday's initial session, the opening address came from the British scientist J. Kendrew, President of the International Union for Theoretical and Applied Biophysics. Early speeches included appeals for still closer exchanges between scientists of different countries.
