Background: A very vivid and realistic reenactment of the Via Crucis -- or Stations of the Cross -- was played out through the streets of Buenos Aires on Good Friday (April 9). Similar reenactments were carried out throughout the Roman Catholic world on the same day.
SYNOPSIS: In Buenos Aires, Argentina, on Good Friday - a very vivid and realistic reenactment of Christ's Stations of the Cross - or Via Crucis.
The Virgin Mary rushing forward to sooth the fallen Christ. She is also accompanied by Veronica - who wipes Christ's bleeding face.
The long, painful trek begins again - as the guards pull on the ropes around Christ's waist..and whip His back.
The Via Crucis - similar to other reenactments being carried out throughout the Roman Catholic world on Good Friday - is a very popular event with the holiday crowds, who flock round the actors.
The final stages are reached - and Christ is laid on the Cross for an extremely-well simulated Crucifixion.
And, as His followers weep around the Cross, Jesus Christ dies.
