    M. WALDECK ROCHET, WHO HAS BEEN GENERAL SECRETARY OF THE PARTY SINCE 1964, WAS INTRODUCING CANDIDATES FOR THE PARIS AREA IN THE FORTHCOMING ELECTIONS.

    HE SAID THAT THE COMMUNIST PARTY WAS ASKING THE LEFT-WING SOCIALIST FEDERATION, WITH WHICH THEY HAVE AN ELECTION ALLIANCE, TO HOLD DISCUSSIONS AFTER THE ELECTIONS ON THE SUGGESTED JOINT LEFT-WING PROGRAMME.

    THE MEETING ALSO APPROVED A MOTION PROTESTING AGAINST PRESIDENT DE GAULLE'S PROPOSED TELEVISION SPEECH TO BE MADE AFTER THE CLOSE OF THE OFFICIAL ELECTION CAMPAIGN NEXT SATURDAY. THE MOTION ALLEGED THAT THE BROADCAST CONSTITUTED "ILLEGAL INTERFERENCE" BY THE PRESIDENT IN THE ELECTION COMPETITION.
