    President Ahmed Hassan Al-Bakr of Iraq flow from Baghdad on Thursday (14 September) to spend four days in Moscow at the invitation of the Soviet Union.

    In talks with Soviet leaders, President Al-Bakr was expected to discuss the Middle East and relations between the Soviet Union and Iraq.

    A Soviet-Iraqi Friendship Treaty was signed in April this year. Economic discussions were expected to centre on arrangements for the export of oil form the fields which the Government took over in July form the Western-owned Iraq Petroleum Company (IPC).

    SYNOPSIS: Government officials farewelled the Iraqi President, Ahmed Hassan Al-Bakr, when he left Baghdad Airport on Thursday to visit Moscow. It was President Al-Bakr's first visit to the Soviet Union and he was scheduled to meet President Podgorny, the Prime Minister, Mr. Kosygin and the Communist Party chief Mr. Brezhnev.

    Their talks wee expected to cover the Middle East, relations between the Soviet Union and Iraq and the problem of finding export outlets for Iraq's recently nationalised oil industry.
