MATTE: "The Rolling Stones is one of the most famous rock groups in the world. All five members of the group are thought to be millionaires. They are in Toronto to record a series of albums. A week ago, lead guitarist Keith Richards was charged with possession of heroin for the purpose of trafficking. Toronto's old City Hall was surrounded by fans and newsmen today, all waiting for Richard to make a routine court appearance at two o'clock. His lawyer, Clay Powell, arrived a few minutes before two. His Public Relations man, Paul Wassermann, of Los Angeles, waited patiently as the minutes ticked by. Oblivious to all the tension, Howard and Evelyn Herrian -- married moments before inside the old City Hall -- posed for pictures on the front steps. It was probably on e of the most photographed weddings in Toronto's history. Suddenly Richards climbed out of a station wagon at the curb and made his way toward the building. That's him with the whit e tie blowing over his shoulder. Inside one man grabbed his hair before he was hustled into the court room by a side door. A couple of hundred fans could not get in -- the court room doors were locked. They didn't miss much, Richards was only in for a few seconds to have his case remanded. He will appear next Monday to have a date set for trial. Terry Matte, CBC News.
