  • Description

THE FINAL STAGE IN THE DESIGN OF WHAT COULD BE ONE OF THE MOST ATTRACTIVE POSTAGE STAMPS ISSUED IN THE WORLD DURING 1964, GOT UNDERWAY AT LONDON'S WALDORF HOTEL TODAY, (THURSDAY).

CENTRAL MOTIF OF THE STAMP IS TO BE MISS WORLD -- 20 YEAR OLD CAROLE JOAN CRAWFORD, WHO AS MISS JAMAICA, WON THE BEAUTY TITLE IN LONDON, EARLIER THIS MONTH.

AN OFFICIAL PHOTOGRAPHER PICTURED MISS WORLD IN HER CROWN AND ROBES, WHILE A BATTERY OF PRESS AND NEWSREEL CAMERAMEN WERE THERE TO RECORD THE EVENT. LATER, MISS CRAWFORD POSED WITH THE DESIGNER OF THE STAMP, HARRY HARRISON.

JAMAICA'S GOVERNMENT EXPECTS TO ISSUE THE STAMP, A THREE-PENNY DENOMINATION IN JANUARY NEXT YEAR.
