An Exhibition of Ghana's Manufacturing Achievements opened at Accra's Trade Fair Centre last week. It was organised as part of the celebrations to mark the first anniversary of the 13 January coup, which put Colonel Ignatius Acheampong in power.

The Ghanaian Commissioner of Industries, Major K.B. Agbo, opened the exhibition. He said it was a practical demonstration of some of the goals Ghana had attained through its own initiative, effort and resourcefulness. The Major said that since the change of Government last year, the National Redemption Council's aim has been to make Ghanaians masters of their own destiny, politically and economically.

To achieve this aim, the Government initiated new ideas and programmes which it claimed would redeem Ghana's national economy, image and self respect. The Government launched an 'Operation Feed Yourself' campaign and an industrial counterpart, 'Operation Feed Your Factory', to arouse the awareness of Ghanaians to the abundant human and natural resources in the country.
