  • Description

British Prime Minister Harold Wilson told delegates to the Socialist International IIth Congress at Eastbourne in southern England today that to secure disarmament, the People's Republic of China must be considered for membership of the United Nations. In another address, Israeli Prime Minister Mrs. Golda Meir charged the Soviet Union that every son of Israel killed in the conflict with the Arab world had been killed by a Russian weapon.

Mr. Wilson said that secure progress towards disarmament would become yearly more difficult if Chinese participation had not been made possible.

Mrs. Meir then criticised the Soviet Union for providing arms to the Arab nations while sitting at the conference table discussing the fate of the Israelis and the Arabs.

Earlier, the leaders of Britain, Italy and West Germany told the Congress that they hoped that the election of M. Georges Pompidou as the President of France would quicken the pace towards European unity.
