    100 YEARS OLD AND STILL PAINTING -- THAT'S THE LONG SUCCESS STORY OF BELGIAN ARTIST EMILE FABRY. AN EXHIBITION OF HIS WORK IS ON DISPLAY IN BRUSSELS TO CELEBRATE HIS 100TH BIRTHDAY YESTERDAY (THURSDAY).

    APART FROM A BRIEF SPELL IN BRITAIN AS A WORLD WAR ONE REFUGEE, FABRY HAS LIVED AND WORKED IN WOLUWE ST PIERRE SINCE THE TURN OF THE CENTURY. IT WAS THEREFORE APT THAT THE EXHIBITION SHOULD BE HELD AT THE LOCAL TOWN HALL. MANY PROMINENT FELLOW-ARTISTS WERE PRESENT, AND A FELLOW-MEMBER OF THE ROYAL ACADEMY, M. LAVACHERY, SPOKE IN TRIBUTE TO M. FABRY. THE EXHIBITION TRACES HIS LIFE AS A PAINTER.

    NOW A CENTENARIAN, M. FABRY STILL LEADS AN ACTIVE LIFE, SPENDING MOST OF HIS DAY IN HIS STUDIO PAINTING MORE WORKS.
