    THE CONGOLESE WOMEN'S REVOLUTIONARY UNION (URFC) CELEBRATED ITS SECOND ANNIVERSARY IN BRAZZAVILLE LAST SUNDAY WITH MASSED PARADES. PRESIDENT ALPHONSE MASEMBA DEBAT HEADED THE LIST OF DIGNITARIES WHO ATTENDED.

    URFC PRESIDENT, MADAME CELINE YANZA, SAID IN HER SPEECH TO THE CROWDS THAT CONGOLESE WOMEN WERE ALREADY EMANCIPATED. SHE SAID THEY SHOULD CO-OPERATE CLOSELY WITH THEIR MENFOLK IN ALL SPHERES.

    IN REPLY, M. DEBAT SAID THE TIME HAD COME FOR CONGOLESE WOMEN TO HAVE EQUAL INTELLECTUAL AND POLITICAL STATUS WITH MEN IN THEIR CONTRIBUTION TOWARDS NATIONAL ADVANCEMENT.

    TOGETHER PRESIDENT DEBAT AND MADAME YANZA WATCHED THE PARADE OF WOMEN CARRYING A VARIETY OF BANNERS AND FLAGS PROCLAIMING WOMEN'S EMANCIPATION. CHILDREN IN THE PARADE CARRIED PLACARDS, INCLUDING PORTRAITS OF PRESIDENT CHARLES DE GAULLE OF FRANCE AND MAO TSE TUNG COMMUNIST PARTY LEADER OF THE PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF CHINA.
