    WEST GERMAN AUTHORITIES DIRECTED A BELGIAN REGISTERED TRANSPORT AIRCRAFT CARRYING TEN TONS OF EXPLOSIVES TO LAND AT FRANKFURT AIRPORT ON FRIDAY NIGHT. THE PLANE HAD ATTEMPTED TO OVERFLY WEST GERMANY WITHOUT PERMISSION.

    THE PLANE WAS ON A FLIGHT FROM BRUSSELS TO TAIWAN AND WAS DUE TO MAKE A STOPOVER IN DAMASCUS. AFTER THE PLANE WAS ORDERED TO LAND AT FRANKFURT, CUSTOMS AUTHORITIES QUICKLY BOARDED IT AND AFTER AN INSPECTION ORDERED IT TO BE TOWED AWAY FROM THE HANGARS TO A PARKING PLACE WELL AWAY FROM THE TERMINAL....AND CURIOUS NEWSMEN.

    POLICE ARE PATROLLING THE AIRCRAFT AND NEWSMEN HAVE BEEN WARNED TO KEEP WELL AWAY. MYSTERY STILL SURROUNDS THE INCIDENT....MANY PEOPLE IN FRANKFURT ARE ASKING IF WEST GERMANY HAD MANAGED TO FORESTALL AN ATTEMPT TO FLY EXPLOSIVES TO SYRIA.

    A SPOKESMAN FOR THE AIRCRAFT'S OWNER SAID THAT HE HAD NO KNOWLEDGE OF THE INCIDENT.
