Background: FRENCH FLY-HALF GUY CAMBERABERO KICKED 17 POINTS TO HELP HIS TEAM TO A CONVINCING 20-14 VICTORY OVER THE AUSTRALIAN WALLABIES IN THE RUGBY UNION INTERNATIONAL MATCH AT COLOMBES STADIUM IN PARIS TODAY (SATURDAY).

IT WAS AUSTRALIA'S FIRST DEFEAT ON THEIR FRENCH TOUR, WHICH WOUND UP WITH THIS MATCH. IT WAS MAINLY THE GOAL-KICKING POWER OF CAMBERABERO WHICH CAUSED THE WALLABIES' DOWNFALL. HE LANDED FOUR PENALTY GOALS FROM FIVE ATTEMPTS, CONVERTED THE TRY SCORED BY HIS BROTHER LILIAN AND ALSO DROPPED A GOAL.

AUSTRALIA TRAILED 5-8 AT HALF-TIME AFTER LEADING UNTIL FIVE MINUTES BEFORE THE INTERVAL.

WINGER GREG DAVIS AND HOOKER PETER JOHNSON SCORED TRIES FOR AUSTRALIA, AND FLY-HALF PHIL HAWTHORNE WEIGHED IN WITH A DROPPED GOAL.

THE MATCH WAS PLAYED IN A BITING WIND BEFORE AN ENTHUSIASTIC 30,000 FRENCH CROWD, AND THERE WERE SEVERAL INCIDENTS BETWEEN THE PLAYERS. AT ONE POINT MR. GILLILAND, THE IRISH REFEREE SPOKE TO THE TWO CAPTAINS ABOUT THE CONDUCT OF THE TWO TEAMS.
