Belgian Foreign Minister, M. Pierre Harmel, arrived in Cairo on Wednesday (June 16) for talks on the Middle East crisis with the Egyptian Government.
M. Harmel, who was accompanied by his wife, was greeted by the Egyptian Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister, Mr. Mahmoud Riad. On Thursday, (June 17), the two men began their round of talks and M. Harmel was expected to see President Anwar Sadat later in the day.
The Belgian Foreign Minister is to spend five-days in the United Arab Republic. M. Harmel also visited Lebanon and Syria, before travelling to Cairo.

The two men were expected to discuss the Middle East crisis and the consolidation of relations between Belgium and the United Arab Republic. The Belgian Foreign Minister's discussions were also expected to deal with the French-sponsored secret document adopted by the European Common Market Parliament last month.
