    OVER ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND COMMUNIST AND LABOUR TRADE UNIONISTS ASSEMBLED AT THE HARUMI PIER, TOKYO, YESTERDAY (SUNDAY) TO PROTEST ABOUT UNITED STATES POLICY IN SOUTH VIETNAM AND TO CALL FOR A HALT IN THE RATIFICATION OF THE JAPAN-KOREA TREATY.

    THE RALLY WHICH WAS ORGANISED BY THE JAPANESE COMMUNIST PARTY, SAT QUIETLY AND LISTENED TO SEVERAL SPEAKERS INCLUDING THE CHAIRMAN OF THE JAPANESE COMMUNIST PARTY, MR. SANZO NOZAKA. MR. NOZAKA ADVOCATED THAT UNITED STATES ARMED FORCES SHOULD WITHDRAW FROM VIETNAM. ON THE SUBJECT OF THE JAPAN-KOREAN TREATY WHICH IS TO BE RATIFIED IN OCTOBER, MR. NOZAKA SAID THE TREATY WAS PREMATURE AND THAT JAPAN SHOULD WAIT UNTIL SUCH TIME THAT BOTH NORTH AND SOUTH KOREA ARE UNDER ONE GOVERNMENT.

    ALTHOUGH THOUSANDS OF POLICEMEN WERE MOBILISED AS A PRECAUTION AGAINST ANY POSSIBLE DISTURBANCE, THE RALLY ENDED PEACEFULLY AND THEIR SERVICES WERE NOT NEEDED.
