Background: EXTENSION OF GOOD WATER SUPPLIES TO RURAL AREAS IN GHANA HAS RECEIVED A FURTHER BOOST WITH THE INAUGURATION OF TWO NEW SYSTEMS AT THE CENTRES OF JUABEN AND EFFIDUASE, IN CENTRAL GHANA. THE INAUGURATION CEREMONIES WERE PERFORMED BY THE CHAIRMAN OF THE ASHANTI REGION COMMITTEE OF ADMINISTRATION, COLONEL YARBOI.

AT JUABEN, THE OMANHENE OF JUABEN TRADITIONAL AREA, NANA YAW SARPONG, AND HIS ELDERS GREETED COLONEL YARBOI AND PARTY ON THEIR ARRIVAL.

COLONEL YARBOI SAID THE SUPPLY OF GOOD DRINKING WATER IN THE COUNTRY WAS IN LINE WITH THE POLICY OF THE NATIONAL LIBERATION COUNCIL TO PROVIDE BASIC AMENITIES FOR THE RURAL AREAS.

HE THEN TURNED A VALVE INAUGURATING THE WATER SUPPLY AND AT THE SAME TIME OPENED A FOUNTAIN.

LATER, HE PERFORMED THE SAME INAUGURAL CEREMONY AT EFFIDUASE.

COLONEL YARBOI VISITED THE EFFIDUASE WATER PUMPING STATION, WHICH CAN HANDLE 3,200 GALLONS OF WATER AN HOUR.

THE JUABEN PROJECT COST NEARLY 56,000 NEW CEDIS (GBP23,000 STERLING) AND THE EFFIDUASE PROJECT NEARLY 50,000 NEW CEDIS (GBP20,000 STERLING).
