Background: VISNEWS filmed - 13 June - Britains Prime Minister when he arrived at Alexandra Palace to attend a Fete in the Great Hall there and to address a big rally of Conservatives.
Organised by the Home Counties North Provincial Area of the Conservative Party, in conjunction with the local Wood Green Conservative Association, the stalls and sideshows attracted the interest of the Premier before he spoke to the Meeting.
In his speech which was interrupted at times by Empire Loyalists and others, the Prime Minister said that he was not without hope for a peaceful outcome at Geneva, although unless the Soviets modified their attitude the situation could become dangerous.
Before leaving Alexandra Palace, the Premier visited the B.B.C. T.V. News Studio and congratulated the engineers there on some new secret electronic equipment shown to him, which he said indicated that "once again Britain shows the way".
After the day's events he dined at No.10 with Foreign Secretary Selwyn Lloyd before leaving for Chequers where his guest will be Mr. Menzies, Prime Minister of Australia.
