    The Executive Committee of the International Organisation Against Migratory Locusts in Africa (OICMA) held a five-day session in Bamako this past week. Representatives attending the session, which ended on Saturday (15 Jan.), included delegates from Cameroun, Senegal, Nigerial and Mali.

    The last major plague of locusts lasted fourteen years--from 1928-1942. It was then that twenty-one African nations decided to pool their resources to combat the post and formed OICMA.

    SYNOPSIS: The Executive Committee of the International Organisation Against Migratory Locusts in Africa, the O-I-C-M-A, completed ??? five day session in Bamako, Mali on Saturday. The Committee discussed the latest measures to combat the post, and the session was led by the Committee President, Pierre Epoh-Adyang of Cameroun.

    Other representatives at the conference included delegates from Senegal, Nigeria and Mali. The Organisation was formed after the last major locust plague, which lasted from 1928 to 1942. Twenty-one nations decided to pool their resources to combat the insect. Activities of the organisation include tracing the movement of the locust and scientific research into ways of limiting the reproduction of the pest.
