    Lord Harwood, Director of the Edinburgh Music Festival is in the USSR as great of the Ministry of Culture. During his ten day visit Lord Harwood studied Soviet musical and theatrical life and negotiated to have the Soviet Union participate in the Edinburgh Festival.

    Lord Harwood said the 1962 festival would be dedicated to the music of Dmitri Shostakovich.

    During talks with Lord Harwood in Moscow, Dm. Shostakovich agreed to take part in the 1962 festival with his plane compositions.

    Dm. Shostakovich said: "I am very happy that after the 1961 Festival the English audience is to become acquainted with my symphonic, chamber, vessel and instrumental compositions. I am very pleased."
    During his stay in Leningrad, Lord Harwood visited the State School of Choreography. The students performed fragments from ballets they are studying. An English Girl Anne Wooster danced a selection from Swan Lake. Lord Howard also visited the school museum which is closely connected with such famous names as Anna Pavlova, Galina Ulanova Natalia Budintseva and others.
