  • Description

    On the steps of Blair
House, Washington, Sept 27 President Eisenhower shook hands with Soviet Premier
Krushchev, and their weekend and talks ended. Hours later Mr. Krushchev boarded
a Russian TU 104 jet airliner at Andrews Air Base for Moscow, after a 13-day
    visit to the U.S.

An official joint communique issued after the Camp David discussions, emphasised
purpose of the talks and clarification of points of view, not negotiation of
    specific issues.

Germany featured in the two-and-a-half day round of talks. Peace treaties and
Berlin were discussed. The communique on Berlin; 'an understanding was reached,
subject to the approval of the other parties directly concerned, that
negotiations would be reopened.' The US President's return visit to Russia has
been postponed until next Spring, at Mr. Krushchev's suggestion, because
'everything is in flower, the weather is warm and nothing is frozen up.' Whether
this is an old Russian way of referring to a possible Cold War thaw, or a
serious consideration for Mr. Eisenhower's comfort during the tour, Mr.

Krushchev did not say. His only comment was, 'Don't look for flees when none
    exist.'
