  • Description

Ten Palestinian artists form the Israeli-occupied West Bank area exhibited some examples of their work in Amman on Tuesday (27 April).

The exhibition was mounted at the Soviet Culture Centre in cooperation with the Jordanian Department of Culture and Arts.

Most of the 62 paintings exhibited reflected the feelings of the artists towards the occupation of the West Bank. - paintings of refugees in the desert and a woman in chains; Jerusalem with a man playing a guitar without strings.

Israel occupied the West Bank territory during the 1967 Middle East war. Six people have been killed in the area in the last three months during clashes between Arab students and Israeli security forces.

The demonstrations were over the Israeli attempts to establish settlements in the Jordan valley - a move that shows, say the Arabs, that Israel intends to occupy the area indefinitely.

The 10 Palestinian artists are planing to hold similar exhibitions in Syria and Iraq, to be followed up by a tour of other Arab countries.
