  • Description

About fifty thousand people paraded in Amman on Friday (May 15) in memory of "Fall of Palestine Day."
The demonstrators, representing farmers, workers, children's, women's and guerrilla organisations, marched through the Jordanian capital to a Roman Amphitheatre where they heard speeches criticising the Israeli attack against Lebanon earlier this week.

The parade marked the date of the creation of the State of Israel in 1948. The demonstrators carried banners and shouted slogans condemning Imperialism and Zionist aggression. Among the marchers were child guerrillas from Fatah commando organisations -- Al Ashbal, the young "lions", representing the boys -- and AL Zahrat, "the flowers", made up of young girl commandos.
