    CHILDREN ALSO JOINED THEIR PARENTS IN THANKSGIVING PRAYERS BEFORE THEIR FAMILY ALTAR.IN THE EVENING, FATHER AND MOTHER-IN-LAWS CALLED ON THE HOMES OF THEIR SONS FOR A FAMILY REUNION DINNER.THE DAUGHTER-IN-LAW SERVED THEM WITH TEA BEFORE GETTING DOWN TO A SUMPTUOUS DINNER, COMPLETE WITH CHINESE WINE.

    AT THE BREAK OF DAWN ON NEW YEAR'S DAY - LOUD BURST OF FIRE CRACKERS RESOUNDED.LATER THERE WERE THE TRADITIONAL LION DANCERS WHO ENTERTAINED THE SHOP OWNERS OUTSIDE THEIR SHOPS.AT THE END OF THEIR PERFORMANCE, THE OWNER GAVE THEM AND POWS (TINY RED ENVELOPES CONTAINING MONEY).

    THE PREVIOUS YEAR WAS THE YEAR OF THE DRAGON.THE CHINESE NEW YEAR, CALCULATED BY THE OLD LUNAR CALENDAR, IS KNOWN AS "SPRING FESTIVAL".
