Background: Ardently determined, the MCC players tumbled down the remaining six Indian wickets for addition of only 97 runs on the second day of the fourth test match now being played at the Willingdon Pavillion of New Delhi. India were out for 344 after one hour pre lunch batting. The morning game by India was very dreary and there was slow handclap as the Indian players played safe after safe. The camera caught some persons taking a nap in the pavilion while the match was on. A foreigner was busy reading a newspaper.

Belus and Edrich opened MCC's first innings to the bowling of Desai and Jaisimha. The bowlers were unable to impress the batsmen and runs flowed freely at run a minute pace. Skipper Pataudi immediately changed over to spin bowling but even Chandrashekhar, Berde and Nadkarni could not make any impression on the batsmen. Introduction of Kripal Singh met with immediate success and the opening stand had crossed the century mark when at 106, Kripal Singh caught Belus of his own ball. Edrich was soon out leg before to Kripal Singh. At stumps MCC were 114 for two wickets.

Tomorrow is rest day and the match will be resumed on Tuesday.
