It was reported in Saigon today (Monday 21st) that PRAVDA, in an interview with Liberation Front (Viet Cong) officials, announced that a new wave of terrorism is imminent in Saigon.In the interview, reportedly conducted within 10 miles of Saigon itself, the VC are alleged to have stated that incidents similar to that of the bombing of the BOQ (Bachelor Officers' Quarters) Brink Hotel, and the U.S.Embassy disaster, would shortly be carried out by terrorists.

The Brink BOQ Hotel was blown up when a VC agent an American car under the Hotel and left it parked there loaded with explosive.The Xmas Eve bombing (1964) was described in detail to PRAVDA by the VC officials, who said that they secured an American sedan some weeks before the incident and then brazenly drove it straight past the guard, left it parked, and walked out after telling the guard he was hungry and was going to eat.Several U.S.servicemen died and over 100 injured in the blast which left just the shell of the building standing.

It has since been rebuilt and now all vehicles are stopped at a locked gate and searched before entering.

The U.S.Embassy bombing was also the result of a car being driven close loaded with explosive.The driver of the car was shot dead by a Vietnamese policeman on duty seconds before the explosion.The policeman was killed seconds later by the blast.The other terrorist was captured and is now awaiting execution in Saigon.The VC have threatened to kill captured USON official Gustav Herts if Nguyen van Hai (the terrorist) dies.The U.S.Embassy today is barricaded off well back from the building, and is under constant guard from U.S.personnel and Vietnamese police.The windows facing on the street have been blocked off, as many people were injured by flying glass in the bombing.

Elsewhere is Saigon there are barricades and guards on American buildings and installations.The USIS building is completely blocked off for vehicular traffic.

Terrorist bombings are frequent in Saigon, although it is not certain that the Viet Cong are responsible for all them.Many fool that Saigonese take advantage of this to settle their personal vendettas.The terrorist incidents are always aimed to kill Americans - in bars, the streets, or in or near their establishments.However, invariably the Communists manage to kill far more Vietnamese than Americans.
