  • Description

The United States Secretary of State, Doctor Henry Kissinger, said on Monday (10 March) that he was still hopeful of reaching a further stage of settlement between Israel and Egypt.

Doctor Kissinger was speaking after three and a half hours of talks with Israeli leaders in Jerusalem.

The talks followed similar meetings with Arab officials in Egypt and Syria.

Doctor Kissinger said he thought agreement was possible but he pointed out that negotiations, principally about terms for new Israeli withdrawals from Sinai, were complex.

He said his latest visit to the Middle East was expected to last two or three weeks.
