  • Description

St. Moritz in winter.... Swiss "host" to the famous, and the winter sports enthusiasts. In the European boblet championships, Jan 22, the Jean Wicki-Arthur Leuger team (Switzerland) won. Other winners: 2, Antony Nash 7 Antony Slesinger (Britain); 3, Erwin Ender & Silvia Canova (Switzerland); 4, (Luding Doll & Hans Groll (W. Germany).

Among the spectators were Viscount Montgomery; Sir Gordon Richards, the race-horse trainer and former jockey; and Linda Christian, former wife of the late American actor, Tyrone Power. She was with actor Edmund Purdom. Sir Gordon also took part in a curling match, Jan 22.

In the early days of "bobbing", racing took place down the road from the Baren Hotel to Crest Village. But when traffic increased, it was decided to build a run in Badzutt's Park. The first tracks proved too dangerous, but a new track and the improved design of the boblets provided the exciting sport that St. Moritz knows today.
